Final Project Ideation
I have no clue what I am going to do for the final project performance installation. But I would like to use multiple screens in the sense of a conversation kind of like Candice Breitz video.
But the following videos have interesting concepts:
Candice Breitz, Him and Her

In this piece she uses clips from different movies with the same actor and actress to create a conversation relating to relationships and the roles of each of the sexes. It uses multiple screens to portray this idea.
Vito Acconci, Claim

Claim Excerpts is a highly confrontational work, an exercise in self-induced, heightened behavioral states, and an aggressive psychological exploration of the artist/viewer relationship.
Chris Cunningham, Monkey Drummer

The short video installation is a humorous, kinetic study of a mechanical being with nine appendages -- six arms, two legs, and one drumstick penis -- all seemingly controlled by the head of a monkey, though it's unclear what's in control. Each flesh-and-blood body part, jutting from a black steel appendage. The overall effect is somewhat off-putting. Each body part acts authentically human, while being controlled so mechanically.

Critique Response
I was quite please with this project's critique. I honestly felt that this critique went smoother than the others and that the advice I was given matched the points needed for the correction that I thought myself. For this project I definitely will redo because I feel there is room for improvement. But overall, I enjoyed this critique a lot.

Artist Statement
Fo this project my primary concept was based around mother-daughter relationships and the harsh conversations that may occur within these relationships. At the start of this project I wanted to use kitchen sounds and evolve form that but instead of primarily using kitchen sounds I chose to use snippets of common phrases amongst mother-daughter conversations along with the kitchen sounds in the background. I chose to use repetition for these sounds. The associated footage with the sound shoes different mothers and daughters in conversation and how they interact with one another. I chose to use different video footage to show that although the environment and people may change most of the conversation tends to stay the same. The reason for keeping kitchen sounds in the background is to give to the idea that a woman's domain is supposedly the kitchen and this place typically helps form the mother-daughter relationship. The video starts out calm but quickly and abruptly changes. I chose to use the 50's TV filter over the video to give a home video type of feel to seem as though viewers were actually looking the mothers and daughters having a conversation.

Project 2 Idea
a, what is the story/event/concept?
We (Tyra King and Madeline Morales) will be doing a very abridged doodle stop-motion of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner
b, what objects/characters/items you need for your animation? how you can make it? (material, medium, size)
We will be using pencils/pens and paper to create our piece
c, what kinds of setting you need?
The settings will be created through drawings. The story takes place at sea.

Homework 1: Introduction
Hi everyone my name is Tyra Janelle King I am 18 years old and a 2nd year Art and Technology major (crosses fingers). I'm from Miami, Florida. My interests include tattoo art and photography. My goal is to be a digital artist but if that doesn't work out well, a photojournalist for the military is my back up plan. I chose these pictures because they explain me in great detail. My family and friends are everything to me and I'm constantly reminded of how clumsy I am. I'm completely clueless about what time based media but I am willing and hoping to learn a lot.
