watching and listening:
lizards scampering
door slamming
girls talking
an acorn rolling
sneakers
sandals
door closing slowly
fast and slow footsteps
key chains
squeaky door hinge
squirrels
bird cawing
siren in the distance
pencil on paper
bird chirping
chaffing of jeans
boys talking
sandals
a very large and frightening hornet
just listening:
some sort of shoe that drags when walking
chckchkckchkchk (probably a squirrel)
"ok that's definitely a cicada but it may also be an electric wire?"
twig breaking
excited conversation
laughter
someone said "hello" to me
phone vibrating
chirping
a different bird chirping
a bird squawking
coughing
something rolling on the brick floor
leaf rustling
There is not much of a difference between the sounds I heard when looking and when not looking, as most of them were sounds I am fairly familiar with. However, I did find that it was harder to differentiate different types of shoes, the source of what caused leaves to rustle or twigs to snap (it could either be lizards or squirrels or people walking by). It was also a little more off-putting, as I couldn't identify exactly what was causing a sound and where exactly it was coming from.
