I am very pleased with critique. Usually, I don’t put my humorous side into my
work, so I was eager (and slightly anxious) to see the class’ reaction to our video (and now have a
newfound appreciation for comedians.) Stop-motion is intriguing, and it was amazing to see a string of ideas, and then a string of stationary photographs, come to
life! Tatyana and I played an equal role
in the project’s ideation and art direction, oftentimes sharing the same
thought on how to improve something, so I think our styles blended really well
and both our personalities shone through.
The class’ praise and criticism were equally rewarding. Everyone’s comments were valuable because
they focused on the details of our stop-motion.
The comment we received suggesting that we change the perspective to
make the tiny obstacles appear massive stuck with me because it provides
another approach we could have used to make a different composition. That, along with the other constructive
criticism from the class, is material I can take beyond this project and apply to my art
practice. Same with the last project, I
loved watching everyone else’s videos and seeing all the different
interpretations of the project. My
classmates’ techniques were inspiring, and I found I was able to draw as much
helpful information from their critiques as from my own.
