Psycho Response

Psycho is a movie whose plot I was previously familiar with so it made it easier to judge based on the principles of montage seeing it the second time around. The most prominent example in the movie happens during the shower scene in which Marion Crane is murdered.
The reason it's so dynamic is the quick switching of the camera angle from the murderer's perspective to Marion's which shows the predatory approach of the killer compared to Marion's terror at realizing she's being attacked. The psychopath's face remains hidden although it appears to be Mrs. Bates.
The most poignant moments at the end of the scene are at the very end when the camera zooms in on the blood running down the drain, then the curtain being torn, and a direct shot of the shower head. The absence of human movement is the first shown in the whole film, making Marion's death even more definitive and dramatic as a result of the montage editing.
