Critique Response
My favorite part about critique was watching everyone else's videos; the montage project was a great way to introduce everyone's artistic style to the class. I enjoyed hearing everyone's artist statement as well, because that usually isn't included in critiques, yet it gives such insight into the writer's mind. For next critique, it would be interesting to have the artist read their statement after they present, so the audience has a chance to give an unbiased reaction and see how it compares with the artist's intention. Since everyone interprets a piece differently, I look forward to hearing those thoughts, because it adds another dimension to your piece and may be something you hadn't thought of. The montage project allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, especially with the narration, and I am grateful for the feedback I received. The work everyone put into their own montages, and the thought they put into everyone else's is a refreshing environment to be a part of, and it is amazing to look at how different each video is on the vimeo page.
